Laura Paquette is a Canadian-trained, American-board-certified and DOH-licensed genetic counselor with an interest in preventive genetics. Laura joined the corporate office at SEHA (Abu Dhabi Health Services Company) in early 2020 to help strengthen and grow genomics initiatives. She started a genetic counseling clinic at SEHA's Corniche Hospital where she provides care to individuals and couples affected by genetic conditions, with a focus on pre-conception planning, fertility, IVF, prenatal and neonatology. Laura also works with SEHA's Ambulatory Health Services, focused on genetic counselling for the Department of Health / Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre's newly expanded Genetic Testing as part of Premarital Screening program. Laura is an Adjunct Lecturer with United Arab Emirates University where she contributes to their Master of Genetic Counseling program. Prior to moving to the UAE, Laura worked in mixed research and clinical roles focused on hereditary cancer syndromes in both Toronto, Canada and in Auckland, New Zealand. Laura earned her Master of Science in Genetic Counselling degree from the University of Toronto, where she completed her clinical training at Torontos Hospital for Sick Children, Mount Sinai Hospital, Women's College Hospital and the University Health Network, as well as Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
